Do you need a Couple's Counseling?

Couples seek therapy for a variety of reasons, including overcoming conflict, learning to communicate more effectively, and strengthening their relationship.  Couples often find themselves fighting about the same things over and over again, hoping every time to reach a solution, but ending up in the same situation.  Over time, resentment builds, feelings are hurt, and partners grow apart.

Do you find that you are in constant conflict with your partner?  Do you feel like you can’t do anything right when it comes to your marriage or relationship?  Are your arguments escalating quickly?  Are there unresolved issues keeping your relationship stuck?  Do you worry about the future of your relationship?  Are you looking for ways to reconnect?

Did you know there are behaviors that occur during conflict discussions that are actually predictors of divorce?  The most important thing is often not what you are arguing about, but how you argue.  We can start making improvements by implementing rules for fair fighting, learning to work together as a team, verbalizing appreciation for your partner, and exploring ways to increase relationship satisfaction.  I use a variety of techniques from current research and theories to determine what isn’t helpful, what is working well, enhance communication skills, deepen connections, and rekindle the love and intimacy that brought you together.

Every couple is different, therefore I will spend time during couple's therapy getting to know you as a couple, uncovering your strengths, and defining specific goals for our work together in counseling.

Not sure what you want from your relationship, or if you even want to stay together?  That’s okay, therapy can help you figure that out.  I am not here to tell you what to do or dictate the outcome of your relationship.  I will respect your choices and objectives, provide you with a safe space to talk openly about your issues, and help you develop skills for moving forward.
